Who are the Supporters of British Breeding (SBB)?
They are a group of people who originally came together to raise funds for the British Horse Foundation. They now raise funds for British Breeding, the breeding arm of the British Equestrian Federation. Their primary objectives are to:
- Promote breeding, identification, registration and welfare of horses and ponies
- Advance education regarding the breeding and care of horses and ponies
- Co-ordinate breed societies and disciplines with a view to improving the quality and welfare of horses and ponies in Britain
In order to do this the SBB has set objectives to:
- Provide more education for breeders
- Recognise successful breeders and bloodlines through the provision of awards
- Promote the British horse in foreign markets in order to reduce our trade deficit
- Encourage more scientific and selective breeding
SBB played a key role in the development of the Implementation Plan for what eventually became the BEF Breeding Programme and a number of SBB Committee Members now serve on the British Breeding Management Committee and many other British Breeding Committees and Working Groups.
The SBB still co-ordinates the annual fundraising British Breeding Breeders' Dinner and Awards
