Who are the Supporters of British Breeding (SBB)?
They are a group of people who originally came together to raise funds for the British Horse Foundation. Their primary objectives have been to:
- Promote breeding, identification, registration and welfare of horses and ponies
- Advance education regarding the breeding and care of horses and ponies
- Co-ordinate breed societies and disciplines with a view to improving the quality and welfare of horses and ponies in Britain
In order to do this the SBB has set objectives to:
- Provide more education for breeders
- Recognise successful breeders and bloodlines through the provision of awards
- Promote the British horse in foreign markets in order to reduce our trade deficit
- Encourage more scientific and selective breeding
SBB played a key role in the development of the Implementation Plan for what eventually became the BEF Breeding Programme.
The SBB still co-ordinates the annual fundraising British Breeding Breeders' Dinner and Awards held in January of each year.
