Cheshire Rider Qualifies for the Country's Top Horse Show!

12th September 2009

Rosialind Fifield from Northwich, Cheshire has qualified to compete at Horse of the Year Show, the UK's biggest indoor equestrian event, at the NEC Arena, Birmingham, 7th - 11th October 2009.

Tens of thousands of competitors set out each year to become one of the coveted finalists at HOYS. This world famous horse show is the pinnacle of the domestic equestrian calendar.

Semi retired, Rosialind and her horse, Moonlight Spooks, have qualified for the SEIB Search for a Star Riding Horses/Hacks Final. On qualifying for the show, Rosialind commented, "I bought my first hack over 25 years ago and it is a dream come true to now be competing at HOYS. I'm not sure if I will be the first pensioner to compete in the Search for a Star classes but it just proves you are never too old to fulfil a dream."

Following its most successful show ever in 2008, this year's Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) will take place from 7th-11th October at Birmingham's NEC and will host the finals of the most highly regarded showing and show jumping championships, alongside an impressive line-up of equestrian entertainment which will have a distinctive Broadway feel this year.

The world's most famous horse show is also renowned for its world-class international show jumping, with Saturday Evening's performance playing host to the famous Puissance and the climax of the show, the HOYS Leading Show Jumper of the Year (Grand Prix), taking place during Sunday's Gala Evening performance. The stunning line-up of displays will be shaped with a musical theme and include the HOYS School Musical ride by the Cheshire Hunt North Pony Club and a dramatic HOYS Phantom of the Opera performance by Daniel Naprous and his team of stuntmen.

In addition, the much acclaimed HOYS Dressage Special will return for the 2009 Show with four special guest riders, alongside the thrilling Pony Club Mounted Games for the Prince Philip Cup and the ever-popular Osborne Refrigerators Scurry Racing. For those looking to shop, the gigantic HOYS Retail Village is a shopping haven selling everything from top hats to hair tongs.

In 2009 as part of the NEC's huge £28 million venue redevelopment, HOYS visitors will also be treated to a more comfortable visitor experience. The newly refurbished LG Arena (formerly the NEC Arena) will benefit from increased capacity and superior catering and customer facilities.

With two arenas, 1,500 horses, 1,400 competitors and a huge variety of shopping at over 250 stands, 1.2 million square feet of The NEC is transformed into a horse lover's paradise.
