Eight horses on the British Equestrian Federation's World Class Dressage Equine Pathway were treated to training with German's triple Olympic gold medallist Monica Theodorescu.
Horses and riders were put through their paces on 10 May and 21 June - under the invaluable instruction of Monica.
Paul Hayler, who attended the second training session with Sue Brown's eight year old gelding Fabioso, particularly seemed to benefit from the training, achieving excellent results at the Hickstead Premier League later that week. Paul picked up two third places in the Prix St George and a win in the Intermediare 1 with 72%.
"The proof is in the pudding, so to speak!" said Paul. "It was a fantastic opportunity to train with Monica - I've trained in Germany before so it was good to be taught under the same system. Monica is very understanding and gives clear advice.
"Fabioso has only been on the Equine Pathway for the last couple of months, but the benefits are already clear. It's fantastic to have access to this kind of invaluable training at no cost, and to also have additional support with travel."
Set up in 2006, the Dressage World Class Equine Pathway, which is being run in conjunction with British Dressage, aims to support the identification and development of elite young horses which show the potential to win medals for Great Britain at future Championships and Olympic Games. Once identified, assistance is provided to owners, riders and their home teams to help them maximize their horses' potential through the network of World Class Support.
