UKCC level 2 courses for the Association of British Riding Schools

12 January 2012

ABRS UKCC COURSES GET OFF TO A GREAT START

December 2011 saw the first of the ABRS United Kingdom Coaching Certificate level 2 courses get off to a great start at ABRS approved Hartlebury Equestrian Centre, Kidderminster. Following a very successful pilot course earlier in the year, kindly hosted by Andrew Stennett, at his first class Riding//Training centre - Grove House Stables, Doncaster. The ABRS are now delivering several more training courses and final assessments this year (visit the ABRS website for full details) for these sought after modern and relevant Riding Coach Qualifications devised by the British Equestrian Federation through the working group CDAT.

The training consists of 3 days of workshops and practical assessments with guided tutor supported home study. A final assessment takes place on day 4 of each programme which enables the candidates to demonstrate their coaching skills and satisfy the assessment requirements of Equestrian Qualifications GB Limited (EQL) the awarding body for all UKCC qualifications offered through the British Equestrian Federation.

The candidates currently forward for UKCC L2 range from Instructors with many years of experience who have not previously taken any Teaching/Instructing/Coaching qualification to young candidates currently on equestrian career paths who are aspiring to reach high standards of performance in their chosen field - coaching riding. The candidates work with a UKCC Coach Educator in groups of 9 at their allocated ABRS/UKCC training centre and are supported by the ABRS Provider throughout as they complete their portfolio of evidence. Shared experience from the members of each group plays a vital role in professional development for the candidates who also enjoy the opportunity to gain riding experience and tuition whilst completing training.

The ABRS currently have over 30 qualified or 'in training' coaches who have benefited from generous funding received by the ABRS from Sport England. The ABRS aim to continue the UKCC Level 2 training programmes and continue to offer this subsidy and opportunity throughout 2012. For those who would like to be considered for course places or would like to chat about the awards and entry requirements please contact the ABRS UKCC Provider - Janis Baron on 07799693477 or email all enquiries to janis.baron@ntlworld.com
