International Mounted Games Exchange 2012

14 March 2012

Each year The Pony Club chooses five Members to represent Great Britain during the International Mounted Games Exchange, which rotates between Canada, Australia, Great Britain and the USA. The 2012 exchange will take place from the 7th - 22nd April and will be hosted by Australia.

Following a strong field of 24 applications, in which Members had to provide a detailed Pony Club CV and approval from their Branch District Commissioner, the five lucky Branch Members selected to represent Great Britain and Northern Ireland for 2012 are:

Name  Age  Branch
Catriona Wallace   15  Angus
Rory Capel  15  Devon & Somerset
Suzanne Williams  15  Flint & Denbigh
 Jennifer Gregg  15  North Down
 Suzie Barwise-Munro  15  Percy Hunt

"All those selected have their Pony Club C+ Efficiency Test, as well as good all round Pony Club skills," comments Ros Slinger, Chairman of Mounted Games. "We have no doubt that they will be great ambassadors for The Pony Club UK during their exchange."

During the exchange the Members will be staying with local families, alongside the Pony Club Members from the other countries. Travelling around Australia for two weeks they will get to experience some of the fantastic activities and sights Australia has to offer, such as sheep mustering on horseback, sightseeing in Sydney, and visiting an Australian Pony Club Camp.

The week will conclude with a Mounted Games competition where the teams from each country will do battle against one another; "Although the exchange acts as an incredible cultural experience it is also a time where many life long friendships will be forged", comments Ros, "and we of course wish them the best of luck for the International competition at the end of their tour!"
