Coaching developments across the BEF are guided by the BEF Unified Coaching Development Plan called Investing in Equestrian Coaching. An Executive Summary is available for brief reading. This document, published in July 2004, guides what we do in the industry, while developing a modern, universally-respected Coaching Development system which brings BEF Member organisations closer together in their planning and co-ordination.
It should enable the industry in the future to interface better with the Government and sports-wide initiatives, to access external support and resources for coaching development, and to provide an even better, coherent network of coaching services to the riding, driving and vaulting public.
It includes sections on:

- Establishing the UK Coaching Certificate system in Equestrian
- The employment of coaches
- Qualifying and upgrading coaches
