DIRECTOR for BREEDING LIAISON
The National Equine Database (NED), developed as a partnership between the Equine Industry and Defra, was launched in November 2008. NED currently contains information on over 1 million equines and uniquely links pedigree data with performance and evaluation data. NED is, therefore, an invaluable source of information for those buying, selling or breeding horses; for disease control and surveillance and those concerned with animal welfare.
The British Equestrian Federation (BEF) is seeking a Director for Breeding Liaison for NED Ltd, a company established by BEF and of which BEF is the only member. The Director will be responsible for performance and accountability in all matters relating to the agreed policies of the Company. The appointment of the Director will be based upon the competences required to run a successful equine database.
Board Meetings will be held at NED headquarters at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire and will take place around six times a year, though meetings are more frequent during this busy development period.
This position is voluntary with expenses and offers the opportunity for close involvement in an exciting phase of the running and further development of a potentially World-beating database. Knowledge of the equestrian industry, whilst not essential, would be an advantage.
Full information on NED and the Terms of Reference for Directors can be obtained from either the address below or from the NED website www.nedonline.co.uk in the News section.
Individuals interested in this position should apply in writing, enclosing a CV and the contact details for two referees, to the British Equestrian Federation, on or before Friday 19 June 2009.
